Robson and Cowan, Scots Gap, Morpeth

Client: Robson and Cowan, Scotts Gap | Location: Morpeth | Specification of Work: External Wall Cladding | Project Length: 6 Weeks

The Project

Asbestos sheet removal from the existing roof which was replaced by a double skin glasswool insulated roof and wall overcladding.

Client Problems:

The clients main problem was the general poor condition of the roof and walls, this gave them many issues including the struggle to keep the weather out. While not directly affecting the client, the client’s existing roof was an asbestos twin skin construction. This effects the way that we handle the refurbishment however we are fully qualified to remove asbestos in a safe and efficient manner.

Solution:

To resolve the clients issue we had to progressively remove the double skin asbestos sheets, which we replaced with a double skin glass wool insulated roof and wall construction. This will improve the buildings U value in line with current government regulations, and reduce heating costs to the property. Alongside this 10% of the roof area will be double skin roof lights in order to comply with HSE recommendations. Additionally we included the removal of the eaves gutters, and replacing them with new 0.7mm plastisol trim line gutter, to complete the presentation of the building for the client. This solution considered the clients needs by completing this contract in phases, this helped the client control the budget while fully refurbishing the building.
