Roofclad Frequently Asked Questions about Metal Roofing and Cladding

Cladding

Here at Roofclad, we offer many different types of industrial wall cladding to suit your businesses needs. We have rainscreen cladding, wall overcladding/single skin, traditional built up wall cladding and composite wall cladding. Cladding is a multi-purpose material that can be used for a variety of building purposes.
Generally, cladding is the process of bonding or reinforcing existing roof structures with metal, or other materials to prolong and support the roof & walls lifespan. Here at Roofclad, we offer bespoke roof cladding services to industrial structures designed to provide your roof and walls with weather protection and structural rejuvenation.

If you wish to transform a dark building into a light and airy environment, this can be done simply by replacing existing roof lights. There are a number of benefits to adding roof lighting including that increased lighting provides ideal working conditions for those working within the building. Furthermore, increasing natural daylight in your building can also reduce the need for artificial lighting, which in turn will reduce your lighting costs.

Over the years Roofclad Systems has recognised the importance of our clients initiating a regular maintenance program with respect to their cladded roofs. This maintenance procedure is equally as important with newly installed roofs as it is with aged roof systems. As all roofs need to be ensuring that they are protecting your building as securely as possible. A roof protects you, your workers and the building contents. If the roof is not maintained, it will not perform to its maximum lifespan. By implementing a roof maintenance plan, it can substantially increase the lifespan of the roofing fabric and therefore increase the protection it gives you and your building.

Roofclad Systems can conduct a maintenance programme that can be tailored to suit the client and as such can consist of many different services including:

  • Quarterly / Bi-Annual / Annual site visits.
  • Removal of all rubbish, debris and leaves from roof areas and gutters.
  • Inspect all rainwater outlets, replace leaf guards.
  • In light of Climate change, it is more important than ever to ensure all gutters and rainwater pipes are free-flowing especially on older buildings where they were designed for rainfall rates which are less than current standards, we are happy to check the design of existing rainwater systems and introduce additional weir overflows or pipes where necessary.

Gutter maintenance is an essential part of any roof maintenance programme. Your gutters must be clear of debris to ensure heavy rainfall and water from melted snow has somewhere to go and does not cause leaking or even flooding in your building. Here at Roofclad we provide a gutter maintenance service in which we inspect your gutters to ensure you maintain a fully functioning guttering system. We ensure all your gutters are clear of debris to prevent water from backing up and sitting on your roof.

Here at Roofclad Systems, we know too well from our expertise and experience, within the industrial roofing and cladding industry, how important it is to prepare for these changes in conditions. Preparing your commercial or industrial roofing system for winter is essential to ensure you stay warm and dry during the winter months. Winter can be fraught with problems due to the more extreme weather conditions so it is vital that your facility is ready to tackle heavy rainfall, extreme temperatures and even snow. Winter can also be a very busy time of year for businesses and roofers alike so it is highly recommended that you have your roof system inspected in the run up to winter to avoid any problems escalating into larger, more costly issues.

Roofclad is here to help you ensure your roof is adequately prepared for winter. We can understand how hard it is to know how your roof is performing, therefore, as experienced contractors in the field we are on hand to assist you with our site visits. Regular inspections should be conducted before and after winter to ensure your roof remains in top condition at all times.

Metal roofing is an energy efficient roofing system. It reflects solar heat, therefore, meaning it will cut back on cooling and air conditioning costs. It is also a good conductor of electricity, meaning it poses a low risk in severe weather conditions, for example a lightning strike.

Metal roofing solutions are highly beneficial to a commercial or industrial business, as well as being environmentally sound. In recent years environmentalism has become a keen issue within the manufacturing industry as more companies move towards using more sustainable solutions for industrial installations. As much as Roofclad hold the welfare of our customers in high regard, we have also been working hard in recent years to make our product more environmentally friendly and therefore reduce our carbon footprint. Metal is one of the most eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable roofing materials available. Most metal roofing is comprised of at least 25% recycled material.
