Roofsheet Overclad
We were approached by a property developer to upgrade the building envelope to two industrial units as the existing composite panels were underperforming. The existing building had a low U value leading to higher operating costs, and the client felt the roof was presenting the premises in a poor manner.
We provided two solutions to give the client multiple options considering budget and quality. First we offered the client an over-cladding system, which was the economical approach, and it would not disturb the business during its operational hours, which seemed a major priority for the client. The second option we provided was to replace the whole roof with upgraded composite panels, this was a more expensive option for the client but offered a greater long term solution. However the advantages of overcladding resulted in the client opting for this. In order to help our client for this contract, we removed the existing plant and ductwork surplus to requirement and installed a galvanised steel support bar was through the existing composite panels to the main steel purlins. After this a layer of 220mm thick Glasswool insulation, and new 0.7mm Plastisol coated roof sheets, alongside translucent GRP rooflights fitted to the new support bar to match the existing rooflight positions. This contract was divided between the two units, offering a discount to the client providing both units were to be done consecutively.
