The Project

Advanced Air (UK) Ltd, a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient air distribution systems and fire safety products, commissioned Roofclad Systems to carry out a full roof refurbishment at their Thetford facility. The project focused on protecting business operations and improving energy efficiency.

Client Problems

A detailed survey revealed extensive deterioration:

Pitched roof with Z rails and 240mm insulation required for thermal efficiency.
Flat felted roofs showing blisters, indicating water and air infiltration.
Large sections of Georgian wire glazed panels needed attention to maintain structural integrity.
Existing rooflights, gutters, and flat roof drainage required refurbishment to eliminate pooling and improve performance.

Our Solution

We delivered a comprehensive refurbishment tailored to each roof section:

Pitched roof: Installed new Z rails, 240mm insulation for a U-value of 0.18 W/m²K, and 0.7mm profile single-skin metal sheeting with side lap detail. Sheeting was hot-dipped galvanised steel with 0.2mm PVC plastisol coating.
Centre flat gutter: Cleaned and prepared the surface, cut out blisters, installed 25mm Sopratherm insulation to create a new fall, applied bituminous primer, followed by 3mm SBS polyester and 5kg SBS mineral roofing felt via torch-on method.
Office flat roof: Applied 25mm Sopratherm insulation recovery board, followed by 3kg SBS polyester and 5mm SBS mineral roofing felt, fully bonded using torch-on method.
Rooflights: Installed new Class 3 GRP rooflights in conjunction with the new sheeting.
Refurbished gutters to optimise water flow and prevent pooling.
All works completed in full compliance with health, safety, and building regulations.
