The Metro Building

We were instructed to carry out extensive refurbishment works to The Metro Building in Swindon. The project included the full strip and replacement of the roof, designed to accommodate a Kingspan Solar Panel 250KWP system, along with replacement of wall cladding and architectural features.

The existing roof and wall cladding required significant refurbishment to improve performance and future-proof the building. The client also needed assurance that the works could be delivered within strict timeframes and cost controls, given the size and scale of the project.

Our in-house project management team ensured the programme was carefully coordinated and delivered to plan. After completing commercial discussions and value engineering exercises, we began the required safety preparation works while procurement was underway.

The project was delivered in two phases:

• Phase 1 (12 weeks): Strip and replacement of the roof, completed to specification and prepared for the installation of a Kingspan Solar Panel 250KWP system.
• Phase 2 (12 weeks): Replacement of wall cladding and architectural features, ensuring the building was fully refurbished and compliant.
• The works were handed back to the client on schedule and within the original cost plan, showcasing the effectiveness of our project management approach.
