Flat Roofing
To ensure that the study block had a new watertight felt roof system with enhanced u-values along with new rooflights and access hatch to the main roof area.
St Peter’s School had leaks coming from the existing flat roof and rooflights. The school wanted to act quickly to ensure that the existing leaks did not develop and become greater problems.
Roofclad Systems supplied and erected a triple handrail scaffold to all exposed roof edges all in accordance with the Working at Height Regulations. This was carried out via a trusted sub-contractor who had previously worked on the school with us on other recent projects.
Access to roof level was gained from a scaffold access tower up to eaves level complete with fixed ladder.
For the duration of the contract we hired a rough terrain telescopic forklift, which was on site for the purpose of raising new materials to roof level and lowering redundant materials to ground level. Works started by our operatives clearing debris from the existing felt roof system before priming it with quick drying bitumen based primer. We followed this with 80mm PIR torch on insulation boards bonded to the existing flat roof system. We used a SIGnature20 felt underlay over the newly installed insulation along with a torch applied mineral surfaced SIGnature felt cap sheet. All upstand and perimeter details were installed with a self-adhesive SIGnature underlay and SIGnature felt mineral surfaced cap sheet complete with associated primers, all hot air welded into position.
The project included the removal of nine glazed rooflights which were replaced with new domed and barrelled, triple skin, polycarbonate rooflights. An existing access hatch was removed and replaced with a triple skin polycarbonate access hatch.
Upon completion of the project we cleared away all debris of our making, leaving the site clean and tidy ready for the start of the new academic year.
